Good school, but has its quirks. About 2/3 of the teachers are great. Administration is fair.

Prepare to be enchanted by the natural beauty, history, and greening of Out-of-Door's campuses, and then marvel at the visionary developments taking place school-wide in facilities, curriculum, culture, and college counseling. Visiting from the northeast, we felt as if we'd stumbled on an incredible secret, marveling at what appeared to be a utopian environment for educating children. Our instincts were excellent 5 years ago, as this school's administrative leadership is unparalleled, the faculty and staff are skilled, devoted, and treasured, the parents are supportive and engaged, and the students are provided with excellent standards for personal growth in intellect, character, physical well-being, the arts, competitive sports, leadership, service, and unique personal endeavors. With two children graduating from their respective campuses in May, we are filled with gratitude. An Out-of-Door Academy education is the gift of a lifetime, and we're so glad we didn't let it pass us by.

This is our fourth year at ODA. Our son is now a 10th grader, and our younger son will start next year as a 5th grader. We have been consistently thrilled with the quality of education and the superb faculty. Our son has internalized a desire to excel and work hard to reach his potential and he is doing very well. ODA is led with integrity and expertise. It is very academically challenging for the kids, but they learn to expect more of themselves and perform accordingly. We could not be more satisfied and are grateful to have a chance to send our kids to this wonderful school.

My daughters have been at Out-of-Door Academy for three years now. When we moved from the Midwest this school was the one thing that surpassed our expectations. The faculty and leadership within the school are unmatched. The students are polite, caring, terrific kids. My daughters love going to school each day.

My fourth grade son has been at Out-of-Door since PK and I could not ask for more out of a school. He runs into school every morning eager to start the day. Not only is he working well beyond grade level, but he is encouraged to think out of the box. Critical thinking is incorporated into everything he does. On top of the great academics, Out-of-Door is a wonderful community. The teachers go above and beyond both in and out of the classroom. They coach, sponsor clubs, direct plays - you name it. This year they even add a Wellness program with the understanding that children can not be at their best unless they are healthy. My son has worked with the Wellness coordinator on physical fitness, nutrition, sleep deprivation, and much more. What a great place - I want to go back to school....

We love Out-of-Door. The strong college prep program is critical to us, but it is immersed in a nurturing and loving environment that focuses on character development. I love the fact that my son can involve himself in sports, music and art during and after school. I also love the fact that everyone knows him. They know his strengths and his weaknesses, and they work with me to help him meet with success, all the while they are strtching him to learn beyond his grade level. My son has never asked to stay home. He loves school, he loves his teachers, he loves his classmates. What more could a parent ask?!

My daughter attended Out of Door Academy for 5 years, in that time she was taught and mastered the skills necessary to carry her throughout her entire academic career. The study skills alone that are encouraged at Out of Door Academy were key factors in her overall future success. I was extemely pleased with this school.
