The Sarasota County Arts and Culture Alliance, a membership-based organization, is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, nonprofit arts agency designated with a budget of $1.5 million annually. Sarasotta County employers include the University of Florida, Florida State University, the Florida Department of Education and the State College of Art and Design.

The largest recipient of a grant in Sarasota is a $240,000 endowment fund for the Hermitage Artist Retreat, which is not eligible because of its location outside the city.
